Estimate the operating torque of a trunnion-mounted ball valve — where the ball is supported by upper and lower trunnions, so torque is driven by bearing friction, seat friction and stem friction rather than line pressure. Essential for actuator sizing. The interactive calculator is under development.

Unlike a floating ball, a trunnion ball is fixed between upper and lower trunnions, so the ball does not translate against the seat under pressure. Seat loads come from spring or seat pocket pressure, not the full line force, which keeps torque more stable across the pressure range. Total torque is the sum of bearing, seat and stem friction.
